We can forgive a child who is afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light.
- Plato

The first time I came across this quote, it really struck me and made me ponder.
Yes when men are afraid of the light, I ask myself a question, what is the light that men are afraid of and why? When a place is lighted, it is easy to see everything around the place. Infact like Epitaph said, There is not darkness enough in the entire world to put out the light of one little candle. It means that light as it were brings to open, illuminates every trace of hidden ness, brings radiance, brightness and glow to anywhere

Have you ever noticed that sometimes our keenest insights come out of the times when we’re in trouble? Times when we’re forced to wipe the slate clean and look for new solutions?

On a cold December night in 1914, Thomas Edison’s factory burst out in flames that consumed all of the inventor’s current projects and much of his life’s work. At 67 years old he watched everything he had worked for being destroyed in front of his own eyes. The next morning, Mr. Edison looked at the ruins of his factory and said this of his loss: ‘There’s value in disaster. All our mistakes are burned up. Thank God, we can start anew.’

Watch your “Thoughts,”
they become words;

Watch your “Words,”
they become actions;

Watch your “Actions,”
they become habits;

Watch your “Habits,”
they become character;

Watch your “Character”,
for it becomes your “Destiny”

To hear always, to think always, to learn always, it is thus that we live truly.  He who aspires to nothing, which learns nothing, is not worthy of living. -Helps

When a baby is born into this world, the usual expectation is that after some time the baby begins to grow. Parents are excited at the first signs of development shown by their babies. They watch out for when the baby would be able to sit without support, crawl, bring out teeth, walk etc. it usually brings a sense of happiness to the parents when they see their babies progressing. Some even go as far as taking pictures of the first sign of activity shown by the baby or record the dates.

“When I was young and free and my imagination had no limits,
I dreamed of changing the world.
As I grew older and wiser I discovered the world would not change ¯
So I shortened my sights somewhat and decided to change only my country,
But it too seemed immovable.
As I grew into my twilight years, in one last desperate attempt,
I settled for changing only my family, those closest to me,
But alas, they would have none of it.
And now I realize as I lie on my deathbed, if I had only changed myself first,
Then by example I might have changed my family,
From their inspiration and encouragement I would
then have been able to better my country,
And who knows,
I might have even changed the world.”

Of course you know the “frog in the kettle” story. If you throw a frog in a pan of hot water, he’ll immediately jump out. But if you put that frog in a pan of lukewarm water, you can slowly turn up the heat and that poor frog will cook to death sitting right there. The changes were slow and subtle and he just never responded at all.

One evening, an old Cherokee Indian told his grandson about a “battle” that goes on inside people.He said, “My son, the battle is between the two wolves inside us all.“One is Evil. It is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.“The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.”The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: “Which wolf wins?”The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.” –Author Unknown
